In past visits, the wolves and bears have been far from the fences. It’s really the best chance to see these beautiful creatures up close. I can’t find that time listed anywhere online, so I can’t confirm that it is the exact time to catch a second feeding. feeding time is the best since that’s when she gives the bears and wolves the most food. As you enter the park you will see miles of rolling. While were were there, the keeper said the 3 p.m. The Wildlife Safari Park is a part of Omahas Henry Doorly Zoo and is a fun adventure for the whole family. On Saturdays and Sundays it’s at 1:30 p.m., and includes interesting talks with the keepers. It pays to time your visit! Feeding time is prime animal viewing time. If you didn’t bring food, you can purchase snack bar items, ice cream and other goodies at the visitor center. More tables are located near the visitor center. There are a couple picnic tables near the petting zoo that aren’t very shaded. There are more animals to see inside and outside, as well as a small playground and a group of sculptures kids seem to like climbing on. I would recommend it.Be sure to stop back at the visitor center. If you like zoos you will like this place. Back at the entrance they have a shop and also some small enclosures for smaller animals, we saw owls, birds of prey, bobcats, and other animals. There were some calves as well, along with white buffalo. We drove into the area and we saw probably 20 or so buffalo around a feeding trough. We got back in the car to complete the driving tour, we went through a large gate for the buffalo area. There was a tower there for a better view but we did not climb it. Finally in the parking area there was a marshy area with ducks, geese and sandhill cranes along with other birds. In the wolf enclosure there was a wolf sleeping close to the fence, we could aslo see one far off with binoculars. Close by there was a few trails were you could walk and see the bear and wolf enclosures, at the bear enclosure we saw 2 bears one up very close, and a bunny who had to high tail it out of there when the bear came. These were very impressive, we saw them eat and interact. At the same parking area we saw bald eagles in very large walk in cages, because of injuries could no longer be in the wild. Watch these little critters from a distance burrow, forage and communicate with their unique. Also, there is a petting zoo with chickens and pigmy goats, the goats were super cute and the chickens were very colorful. Located right outside of the Hollis & Helen Baright Foundation Visitor’s Center is Prairie Dog Town, a 2,100-square-foot habitat that provides a glimpse into small-town life on the prairie with a common sight, prairie dog colonies. There is an area where you could park and buy refreshments maybe a bite to eat. At a place we could stop we saw some pelicans at a pond with frogs. Later we went through a place with deer, we didn’t see many this time. We could get pretty close and took great pictures. ![]() You drive in and soon after we saw many female elk and later a herd of male elk, with very large antlers. ![]() This is a driving tour where the majority of the time you are in the car, there are a few stops where you can get out and observe for a while and area where you can park for a while and see animals in large pens. I would describe this is a giant drive in zoo. Simmons Conservation Park and Wildlife Safari in Nebraska was fantastic.
